Top 5 Schooling Fish 🐟🐟🐟

Top 5 Schooling Fish 🐟🐟🐟

There is nothing better in your home aquarium than watching a group of schooling fish.

Our eyes are drawn to the majestic sight of a community of fish acting as one whole unit moving in unison.

In the freshwater world of fish there are a number of amazing schooling fish all having their own unique style of movement.

You will see the best affect of this schooling behavior in a larger setup at least 55 gallons or larger.

Longer tanks are the way to go for schooling fish.

Lets start off with my personal favorite!

Exodon Tetras.
These aggressive tetras in the wild, will feed off the fins and scales of larger fish.

They have a tight and fast schooling pattern, very energetic species.

Perfect for the hobbyists looking for a lot of personality in the tank.

I've even seen them hold their own with piranhas!

Next up a very sexy looking fish.

Rummy Nose Tetras.
A very beautiful looking fish with its long slim body, red face, and zebra striped tail!

The larger the shoal, the better these display.

They love a lot of swimming space.

A lot of impressive videos out there with groups of 1000+ of these guys.

Now it's time for an oddball most don't include in their list.

Ghost Catfish.
One of the most crazy looking catfish in the world!

These transparent catfish swim in an upward angle, and stay closely together.

Their clear bodies have been catching the attention of aquarists of all levels since they were introduced.

A truly unique species and you'll be able to see right through their calm personality. 😉

This next one is a classic!

Neon Tetras.
These lazer beams are some of the most good looking fish to keep.

They may not be the best at schooling but they make up for it in their looks.

Great for those tanin rich setups with large pieces of malaysia driftwood, leaf litter, and low light.

Last and final is a good one!

Silver-Tip Tetras.

I absolutely love these guys.

Great color, tight school, deep yellow!

A nice balance of a little bit of everything.

You can ever go wrong with these guys.

Which one was your favorite?

Let me know.

Talk Soon,
