Setting Up Your First Aquarium 💧

Starting your first aquarium can be a rough start but once you have all the right steps completed you are able to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

 

First step is purchasing an aquarium that is within your budget. PetSmart and Petco have many to choose from, I would recommend no smaller than a 2.5 gallon aquarium.

 

Next would be picking out your filter, my personal favorite is a sponge filter super cheap and reliable. It will polish, clean and host a large amount of bacteria for your tank. We will get to the bacteria part in a minute. 

When you have these two pieces you will need to fill your aquarium. Most fish do well in tap water but make sure you use a dechlorinator (Super cheap!) after you fill with water.

 

 

Pick your favorite fish you see at the store. Most fish that are sold at the stores will be relatively small giving you time to learn and get that next tank ready when they grow out of it.

Final step. YOU MUST DO THIS. Understand the Nitrogen Cycle. The most important key to this hobby. Our Company isn't called Nitrogen Aquatics for no reason! 

 

To keep it simple your fish poops creating waste and that waste needs to be processed someway. Bacteria! You need to build this bacteria colony as fast as possible. You're in luck there are products out there today made just for this purpose! 

Follow the instruction. After a Couple weeks you will have a strong and successful colony of bacteria.

 

Don't forget to test the water. If it smells bad there is something wrong. An aquarium should have little to no smell.
